Of This Sweet Beauty, None Compare

How ragged men in ragged clothes
(Eyes of pearls — the beggars blight)
Doth know one Sunrise thou compose
Would no more grieve them of fair light!

O’ gilded men In halls of gold,
With lightning snatched in diamond jars,
Despise their jewels, whenst they behold
Thy eyes that are Man’s brightest stars!

All Seven Seas in violent flares
No ancient mariner could abide,
Doth know thy gentle heart, and bears
It gently back with every tide!

Of this sweet beauty, none compare!
Fair youth, the rose, the mysteries
Of all the depths and heights we dare:
Mere heirs to thy soul’s galaxies.
